Instructors

Each candidate receives his/her "basic soldiering" instruction from Instructors certified by the United States Army Infantry School (USAIS) through classroom instruction and practical application. The basic soldiering topics include leadership, tactics, squad drill, intelligence, land navigation, maintenance, and communications. Each candidate must maintain an academic average of 70% or higher. Failure to maintain academic proficiency can result in separation from the class.

TACs

TAC (Teach, Access and Counseling)

The cadre chain of command consists of the battalion commander, company commander, first sergeant, TAC (Teach, Access and Counseling) officers and TAC NCOs. They are responsible for all administrative actions for candidates as well as developing leadership. There is one TAC officer and one TAC NCO per platoon. They provide close supervision and evaluation of platoon members and student leaders.

Student Chain of Command

The student chain of command consists of the company commander, executive officer, first sergeant, platoon leaders, platoon sergeants, squad leaders and team leaders to maximize leadership training.

Officer Candidates will hold a wide variety of leadership positions while attending OCS.  These evaluations are used as a tool to evaluate overall leadership potential. Evaluations of Officer Candidates while in Leadership positions during OCS are the cornerstone of the program.

Successful evaluations (continuous improvement) along with academic test scores  (70% or higher) determine whether a student completes the program.
